A restaurant that serves breakfast throughout the day is clearly confident about its morning fare. At Norma's in the Parker Meridian, where you can feast on waffles, omelettes and crêpes well into the afternoon, this cockiness is deserved. For serious indulgence, there are few alternatives.

Soon after you sit down in the swish, high-ceilinged dining room, one of many waiters will whisk up to your table with a shot-glass of fresh fruit smoothie. This colourful, cool berry drink goes down nicely while perusing the menu of breakfast goodies.

There is no wrong choice here, though there are a few that are terribly right. The banana-macadamia nut pancakes are dangerously good, while the “Waz-Za” is a waffle like you've never had before. For those in search of something savoury, there's everything from a lobster and asparagus omelette to huevos rancheros. Aim to share, as portions are generous. Strong coffee is served in your own French press, and the juice is freshly squeezed. Pace yourself.
