LE PARKER MERIDIEN SAYS FUHGETTABOUDIT!

When Travelers Don’t Want To Be Disturbed

NYC, 10/17/99 – Le Parker Meridien, in its quest to deliver the quintessential New York experience, has developed a new way for guests to be left alone, tell others to beat it, scram!  Beginning October 5, the hotel will put another spin on the traditional Do Not Disturb sign with bold, new white-on-black doorknob hangers that read: Fuhgettaboudit!

Fuhgettaboudit! is our way of providing guests with a little peace and quiet, New York-Style, in the city that never sleeps,” said General Manager Steven Pipes.

The signs replace the hotel’s last highly successful Do Not Disturb program: “Go Away.” Introduced quietly in October 1998, the “Go Away” signs soon became a hot commodity. “Because the signs were being stolen at an unusually high rate, we had to reprint them.  We brainstormed with the staff and came up with Fuhgettaboudit!” said Pipes.  “Now, with the popularity of the signs, we plan to refresh the campaign from time to time.”  Pipes, who has been on property for 8 years, has been transforming the 700-room hotel into a decidedly NYC experience.

“In a city that is known for reinventing itself, we are right at home,” added Pipes.

What does the staff think about the new signs? “Whateva!”  How very New York.
